Teaching during periods of high absenteeism or campus closure

A new guide helps instructors adapt their teaching in times of emergency. With a combination of IU-supported technologies, including email, phones, Oncourse CL, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Presenter, Adobe Connect, and Lynda.com, instructors can recreate an effective learning environment even with minimized face-to-face class time

Regardless of teaching styles or techniques, effective learning environments encourage: student-instructors contact, cooperation and reciprocity among students, active learning, prompt feedback, time on task, communication of high expectations, prompt feedback, and respect for diverse talents and ways of learning (Chickering and Gamson, 1987).
